Committees
A number of committees, staffed on a volunteer basis by community members, handle the day to day operations at Better In Belize. Please email the BIB HOA Board (bibhoaboard@gmail.com) if you have a question pertaining to their area of concern, or if you wish to volunteer.
EAB
Roles and Responsibilities:
– Reply to approval requests and ask for any additional information or materials needed
– Create thread on EAB forum on website for each request
– Monitor forum for comments, questions, etc and respond appropriately
– Coordinate site inspection
– Write up recommendation and send to POA board for vote
– Follow up with board on final resolution/vote
– Write up final response to owner
– Send response to property owner
– Follow up on construction status
– Notify board of construction violations or delays past 18 months
– Provide report of activity to POA president at least 3 days prior to each POA meeting
– Attend meeting to present report or arrange for presentation

Garden
Roles and Responsibilities:
– Manage Garden Share program and coordinate count of shares with BIB workers
– Develop plan for garden space and recommend purchases of plants or materials to board for approval
– Oversee or coordinate activities in community spaces, coordinating with board
– Provide report of activity to POA president at least 3 days prior to each POA meeting
– Attend meeting to present report or arrange for presentation
Maintenance
The Maintenance committee oversees the public areas at BIB outside of the Gardens.
Roles and Responsibilities:
– Develop plan for roads and recommend purchases of materials to board for approval
– Oversee or coordinate activities in community spaces, coordinating with board and maintenance company
– Provide report of activity to POA president at least 3 days prior to each POA meeting
– Attend meeting to present report or arrange for presentation
Safety
The safety committee oversees safety and security concerns at Better In Belize.
Roles and Responsibilities:
– Develop plans for safety infrastructure, procedures, and monitoring
– Provide recommendations to board for approval
– Manage access to POA office space, communications tower and equipment, and front gate
– Monitor security camera as needed and periodically to ensure functionality
– Coordinate with Neighborhood Watch program and local police and fire departments
– Provide report of activity to POA president at least 3 days prior to each POA meeting
– Attend meeting to present report or arrange for presentation
